Which languages can Sonilo translate a video into?
Short answer
Sonilo translates a video into any of 24 languages, and you can pick all of them in one go. You do not choose the source language: Sonilo detects the language spoken in the video. The translation keeps the speaker's own voice and the video's original background music and sound effects. Videos can be up to 5 minutes and 400 MB, and each language costs 50 credits per second.
The 24 languages
- English
- Chinese (Mandarin)
- Japanese
- Korean
- Portuguese
- Portuguese (Brazil)
- Spanish
- Spanish (Latin America)
- German
- French
- Italian
- Russian
- Thai
- Arabic
- Turkish
- Vietnamese
- Indonesian
- Tamil
- Malayalam
- Kannada
- Gujarati
- Punjabi (India)
- Sindhi (India)

How it works
- Open video translation and upload a video (MP4, MOV or M4V, up to 5 minutes and 400 MB).
- Pick the languages to translate into.
- Optionally turn on Proofread first to check what was heard and the translation before the video is made, or upload your own subtitles (see uploading subtitles).
- Choose whether to use lip sync, then press Translate.
The voice and the soundtrack
- The speaker's own voice: Sonilo keeps the speaker's own voice in the new language. The translated speech is made from the voice of the person speaking in your video, not a stock voice, and when several people speak, each keeps their own. There is nothing to record or set up.
- Background music and sound effects: Sonilo keeps the original background music and sound effects and replaces only the speech, with lip sync on or off.
You can translate up to 10 videos at once with the same settings.
Cost and downloads
- 50 credits per second for each language, with the usual 15 second and 200 credit minimum per language. With Proofread first, you are charged when you confirm, not before.
- Any plan can make and watch translations. Downloading the translated video, audio or subtitles needs a paid plan.
