Royalty-Free Cartoon Sound Effects
100k+ free sound effects, growing every day. Cartoon sound effects for comedy: boings and springs, bonks and splats, a pie in the face, kazoo honks, sad trombones and rimshots, zippy exits, dizzy warbles, banana-peel slips, falling anvils, gulps, kisses and nervous giggles. They are made for animation, kids' content, memes, reaction videos and any edit where a visual joke needs to land. Most last a second or two, so they sit right on the frame. For squeaks from real toys, see toys; for goofy honks, try horns. Free account: 10 MP3s a month for your own channels, with credit. Paid plans: unlimited MP3 and WAV, client work and ads, no credit.

Say what happens and how silly it should be: a rubber spring boing as a character bounces off a wall, a slide whistle falling into a soft splat, a kazoo fanfare for a tiny trophy.

How to use cartoon sound effects in a video
Hit the frame of contact
Cartoon timing is tighter than live action. The bonk, splat or boing belongs on the exact frame the pie lands or the head gets hit, with no lead in, and it can sit louder than a realistic sound would. A few frames late and the joke feels slow.
Build the gag in three beats
Many visual jokes are a setup, an impact and a reaction: a descending whizz as the character falls, an anvil clang on landing, then a dizzy warble while they wobble. Leave a short gap before the reaction sound so the audience has a moment to laugh at the hit.
Save the fail sting for last
The sad trombone, the rimshot and the comic drum ending are punchlines, so place them after the action has stopped, not on top of it. Use them sparingly: a second sad trombone in the same video is rarely as funny as the first, and viewers start to expect it.
Cartoon sound effects: questions
Are there fart sounds on this page?
Yes, plenty: short squeaky ones, long wet ones, a whoopee cushion, one muffled under a blanket and versions echoing in a bathroom or hall. Pick by the room and the joke: the echoing ones make an embarrassing moment in a quiet place worse, the muffled ones suit someone trying to hide it.
Which cartoon sound should I use when someone falls?
For a slip, the banana peel slip and fall covers the whole action in one file. For a drop from a height, run a descending whistle or whizz into a clang, bonk or splat on landing, then add the dizzy circling warble if the character is left dazed.
What is the difference between cartoon sounds and toy sounds?
Cartoon sounds are exaggerated and made for jokes: boings, bonks, splats, comic stings and silly vocal reactions. Squeaks and rattles from real toys are under toys, and honks from actual horns are under horns. Mixing the two works well when a live action video needs a single cartoon moment.

Sound effects FAQ
Can I use these downloads in commercial projects?
Yes, within what your plan covers. A free Sonilo account downloads 10 sound effects a month as MP3 for videos and posts on your own social channels, monetized channels included, as long as you credit “Sound effects by Sonilo” with a link to the sound’s page. Paid plans download without a monthly limit in MP3 and WAV, need no credit, and also cover commercial projects beyond your own channels, such as client work, paid ads, apps, websites and games. Sonilo does not register library sound effects with YouTube Content ID. On Pro and above you can get a license certificate for any file here. Audio you generate in your account follows your plan’s terms instead.
Do I need an account to preview or download a sound?
Listening needs no account. To download, sign in or create a free Sonilo account: it takes 10 sound effects a month as MP3, and paid plans download without a limit in MP3 and WAV. Creating new audio with the AI generator also needs an account.
What is the difference between MP3 and WAV?
MP3 is a compressed file that is convenient for quick previews and smaller projects. WAV is uncompressed and useful when you will edit, layer or process the sound. Every account downloads the MP3; the WAV comes with paid plans.
What if I cannot find the sound I need?
Describe the sound in the search box. If there are no matches, choose the AI generation option to bring that description into Sonilo’s sound effects generator. New accounts receive free credits; generation uses credits, and available exports and usage rights depend on your plan.
How is this different from a traditional sound library?
You can start with a ready-to-download sound or use your description to create a new one in the same product. Sonilo also offers video-to-sound-effects workflows, so you can move from finding a sound to making audio for a particular scene.
Can I share or embed a sound?
Each sound has a permanent detail-page link. Use Share to copy that link, or Embed to copy an HTML audio player with a link back to the sound. Your website editor must allow HTML audio; pasting a URL alone does not automatically embed it.
Can I make sound effects for an uploaded video or through an API?
Sonilo supports video-driven sound effects as well as text descriptions. Open the sound effects product page for the available workflows, or use the developer documentation for API integration. Account generation and API usage follow their own credit and licensing terms.
